The Kenmore Model 158.901 (serial # 003291) is a heavy-duty cast-iron body. It was manufactured in Japan by Brother for Sears in 1961. It features a 15 class front-loading bobbin, straight and zigzag stitches, adjustable stitch length and width, a three-position needle (left, center, and right), a reverse sewing button, and uses decorative stitch cams for decorative stitches. It uses low shank feet and is known for its durability including the ability to sew various fabrics such as denim and leather.
This specific unit is still in excellent working condition set into a nice, vintage cedar sewing cabinet painted green. The sewing cabinet can double as a desk when the top is down covering the sewing machine’s location. The top right drawer is missing, but the front of the drawer is still there so it could easily be tacked permanently closed making it unnoticeable or have the drawer rebuilt.
There are several accessories included in this package: Buttonholer attachment kit (includes the buttonholer attachment, various templates, and needles); Set of stitch pattern cams (creates different decorative stitches); Set of pattern cams (creates various stitch patterns); Miscellaneous Accessories (needles, bobbins, bobbin cases, original cabinet hardware and the original packaging for the replacement hardware currently installed on the drawer fronts); and approximately 100 rolls for thread in various colors!!! The original owners manual is also included.
