Founded in 1988, Atlanta Construction Equipment, known as ACE, INC. is a long-established underground utility and fiber-optic contractor that served the southeastern United States for more than 35 years, working primarily on projects for AT&T and related telecom partners.
Established by brothers Brad and Steve Edmonds, ACE specialized in the installation, maintenance and repair of underground conduit systems for fiber-optic cable mainly by open trench. The company became particularly known for its ability to perform high-precision, in-town work within compact urban footprints, where coordination, safety, and efficiency were critical.
Roughly half of ACE’s work involved maintenance and repair, with the remaining half focused on new infrastructure installation. As a result, the equipment offered in this auction reflects a complete, job-ready contractor operation, capable of supporting everything from right-of-way clearing and trenching to fiber installation, traffic control, and final asphalt and sidewalk restoration with attention on OSHA compliance.
Over its decades of operation, ACE installed conduit and supported fiber networks spanning thousands of miles. Laid end to end, the duct and fiber installed by ACE would circle the Earth.
Following the passing of co-founder Steve Edmonds in 2020, and after more than three decades in the field, the company is concluding operations as the remaining founder transitions into retirement.
This auction presents a rare opportunity to acquire utility-grade equipment, tools, and materials from a proven fiber-optic contractor — assets selected, maintained, and used in active service, not surplus inventory.
