This is the last year you can get the 1.8L VVTi engine paired with the 6-speed manual transmission.
The engine 2ZR-FE was made for a little over a decade and was put into over 20 million Toyotas globally. When paired with the Aisin 6-Speed manual (which was also made for 10 years) it yields over 30 miles per gallon (28 city / 36 highway).
Super easy to maintain. Parts are also ridiculously cheap and plentiful thanks to Toyota offering this powertrain for well over a decade.
If you're looking for a safe and reliable Toyota Corolla that has a very long life ahead, this is an excellent candidate.
