The staff nurse provides nursing care to pients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to
assess, plan, implement, and evalue the care for pients. He/she functions within the framework of the
policies and procedures of the organizion and demonstres professional growth and accountability. The
staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordining pient care activities of all
assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Gradue of a nursing program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two (2) years nursing experience in a hospital setting
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the Ste of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multiste License.
BLS certificion required.
ADDITIONAL
Bachelors degree preferred.
Advanced certificion in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs pient assessments to include collection of da regarding the pients physical,
psychosocial and health history.
2. Appropriely evalues the developmental age of the pient when performing assessments,
trements and pient/family educion.
3. Organizes pient da into the formulion of a plan of care; identifies additional informion needed
and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected pient outcomes.
4. Carries out plan of care to achieve desired pient outcomes.
5. Provides pient care th is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures th the care
provided is approprie to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
6. Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
7. Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educional
goals of the pients.
8. Communicions issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as
approprie.
9. Documents pient care and concerns in the pient record.
